Dioscorus I Of Alexandria
Dioscorus I. Alexandria, Patriarch of Alexandria, succeeded Cyril in 444 , adopted the principles of Eutyches , supported this heresy in the false Council of Ephesus , known as the robbery of Ephesus ( 449 ), and dared to excommunicate Pope Leo. The general council of Chalcedon held in 451 , deposed from the episcopate and the priesthood on October 13 , and the Emperor Marcian exiled him to Gangres in Paphlagonia , where he died on September 4 454.
