Constantius Gallus
Gallus ( 325 / 326 - 354 ) was a Caesar of the Eastern Roman Empire from the fourth century.
Son of a half-brother of Constantine I , Julius Constantius , he was the half-brother Julian , and was, like this, high and away in a precarious situation after the assassination of their father in 337.
In 351 , Emperor Constantius II elevated him to the dignity of Caesar , in 26 years, and installed him at Antioch , while he himself remained in the West. Gallus few organized police operations in the East, particularly against the brigands of Isauria and against a Jewish insurrection. He had to face problems at Antioch, because of scarcity. But he managed the situation very awkward and sentenced to death or left to assassinate a number of notables.
Constance recalled in the West and, without letting on his defense, had him executed in 354 to stroll in Dalmatia.
