Summary

History

Institution steeped in history, the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers is with the Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Normale Superieure , one of the scientific schools of the Year III. In 1794, he counts among its members and academics Vandermonde Roy. This last collaborated on the Encyclopedia. The mathematician Vandermonde Missions

The Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers (CNAM) is a public institution of the state of scientific, cultural and professional features, such as the College de France , the status of " great institution ". Under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, it has 3 missions:

Reputation

Great institution of higher education and research, member of the Conference of Grandes Ecoles , the Conservatoire National des Arts et Mtiers is a great school based on meritocracy. He is known for motivating his listeners, essential to monitor a complete course in continuing education.

The CNAM has its engineering school (EIcnam) authorized by the Securities Commission as an engineer with many specialties: chemistry, construction, electronics, energy, information technology, materials, mechanics, measurement-analysis, science and technology of living and nuclear science and technology.

His teachings and his team are renowned for their teaching qualities and the CNAM is frequently quoted in the rankings published in journals , .

It also has specialized institutes. ICH (Institute of Applied Economic and Legal Studies at the construction and housing) accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) prepares students for careers in real estate; the INTEC (National Institute of Technical and Economic Accounting ) preparing it, in public accounting.

In September 2008, Christian Forester, Inspector General of Education, was appointed deputy head of the CNAM by decree of President of the Republic, published in the Official Journal of 30 August 2008.

The Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers in the heart of Paris

The Conservatoire National des Arts et Mtiers is located in the heart of Paris , the cardo in the former Benedictine priory of Saint-Martin-des-Champs. The religious establishment of origin, dating from the Merovingian, was installed in the priory by Henry I of France in 1060 . This is one of the oldest places in France dedicated to the study and used without interruption for this purpose since its inception. In fact, the priory, now the library of the CNAM, had been entrusted to the Abbot of Cluny in 1079. Guillaume Postel , one of the first professors of the College de France , founded in 1530, is buried there.

The courses are based primarily in Paris at 292 rue Saint-Martin but also in the next street at 2 rue Cont, who is the former main building of the Ecole Centrale Paris.

You can still see remnants of the medieval walls protecting the priory of Saint-Martin , looking at the tower at the corner of Rue Saint Martin and Rue du Vertbois, a fragment of curtain Vertbois Street and a tower using cage Stair 7 rue Bailly.

The plan of the choir of the church Saint-Martin-des-Champs was inspired in the choir of the Basilica of Saint-Denis built a few years later.

Tradition

Vandermonde: "Secret Society student at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers (1794) based on the model of Yale University (1701). "

Specifics of the network in region

  • Several centers in the province have obtained the quality certification ISO 9001, and recently the center near Geneva in Switzerland has been awarded the EduQua, quality certification of training providers in Switzerland. The antenna for the CNAM-Geneva Lake Geneva is the first French settlement to get the precious, a guarantee of a cross-border exchange initiated since 1970.
  • Streaming CNAM engineers have been certified by the accreditation body Quality (OAQ) (per SIC: French National Commission of Securities of Engineers)
  • By Province: CNAM centers and their branches are supported at more than half of their budget from the funds of the social and professional promotion, funds allocated by regional councils whose training is one of the functions.

Since October 2006, CNAM in Rhone-Alpes offers - among other teams - one license per (apprenticeships, professional contract, CIF, etc..) In the field of renewable energy: wind power and photovoltaics. This license, including several teaching units were developed in the Rhone-Alpes is hosted in the department of Ardeche, Aubenas very precisely.
