Communion Evangelical Baptist Independent
Communion Evangelical Baptist Independent (CEBI) is an unincorporated association founded in France in 1967 , to establish links between independent Baptist churches.
It brings together churches and associations Baptists who are independent of any organization or institution. It is connected with the independent branch of the Baptist French.
A communion of local churches
Particularly committed to the principle of autonomy of the local assembly, the CEBI presents itself as a communion of local churches, which means that it is not the communion of all the Independent Baptist Churches of France.
The CEBI not intended collect all the Independent Baptist Churches, but only those who want it. It was established in France, unofficially, since 1967 and has established more formally in 1972 (Ris-Orangis, Essonne). Composed mostly originally from American missionaries, it now boasts two thirds of French pastors.
Three elements make up its annual meetings: administrative issues and practices, information sharing and spiritual edification. It is within the CEBI that has developed, from 1987, the AMEB .
Confession of Faith
The Churches of CEBI recognize themselves in a creed whose main points are:
- Bible : It is the authority for faith and religious practice.
- God : A God who is manifested in three persons: the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- Man: He is a sinner and do not deserve salvation , as good as it is.
- Salvation through Jesus Christ: The man can receive salvation by repenting of their sins and receiving Jesus Christ in his life, recognizing his atoning work on the cross. The redemption of the believer is eternal, it is impossible to lose his salvation.
- Blessed Hope: Jesus Christ must come down suddenly, before what is called the great tribulation, to join him in church.
- Jesus Christ was born so miraculous , it is perfectly human and fully God. He died on a cross, taking upon him a punishment undeserved. He justified by his blood shed all those who believe in him. He is risen and is present to God the Father.
- The Holy Spirit is a person of the Trinity , sent by Jesus Christ from God the Father to convince the world of sin , of justice and judgments.
- Satan: This is an angel who loses his fall resulted in myriads of angels. His work is to mislead the man away from his Creator. He was tried in the cross and ultimately, it will be disposed of with his family into the lake of fire where he will be tormented forever.
- The local church: The church is a local body of believers baptized , coming together to worship God, for edification through the Word and to cultivate fellowship. Its mission is to spread the Gospel worldwide. Departments are that of the pastor (or former) and the deacon. Institutions are baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper :
- In principle, members of the CEBI advocate separation from any movement that does not fully accept the Bible as a sufficient basis for faith and practice, including the movement ecumenical and charismatic.
