Collegiality

Collegiality is the principle guiding the actions of a group of people ( college ) with the same status and taking decisions by majority of its members.

Principle

Forum members may be appointed or elected. For a political body, its members are elected by the people and should represent. The use of proportionality is required.

Collegiality is aimed to limit the powers of a small group of people, giving the same power to all its members.

Usage

This principle is used by the political system, Switzerland , in particular the Federal Council Religion

The principle of collegiality has been introduced into the Church during Vatican II. It comes from the notions of presbytery and apostolic college as they were known in Christian antiquity.

However, abuse of collegiality has been criticized by Catholic traditionalists as a sort of "clerical unionism," a way to replace hierarchical authority rather than participate with enthusiasm .

This reserve against collegiality expressed is parallel to the review of the horizontalism liturgical .
