The Church Swedish (in Swedish is an Evangelical Lutheran Church of historic episcopate valid. She was separated from the Roman Church by the Reformation , was arrested in Sweden by a Riksdag held in Vsters in 1527. Until the nineteenth century , it was forbidden for a Swede to leave the Church of Sweden. She is a member of the Lutheran World Federation.
In 2000, the Church of Sweden has definitively broken with the Swedish State. A vast majority of Swedes remain, however members of the Swedish church.
The Archbishop of the Church of Sweden is, since 1164 , in Uppsala.
