The Chaldean Catholic Church, Chaldean Catholic Church or Chaldean Church of the East is one of the Eastern Catholic Churches. The head of the Church carries the title of Catholicos - Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans, with residence in Baghdad in Iraq (the current holder: Emmanuel III Delly Karim since 3 December 2003 ).

The Chaldean Catholic Church was born of a union with Rome for the return of some former leaders of the Apostolic Church of the East , itself the heir of the ancient church of Persia.
It uses the liturgical language of Syriac Aramaic derivative.
Currently, the whole Church, as all Iraqi Christians, saw severe persecution and violence against the Islamic militia that emerged after the invasion of Iraq. Since 1994 , the Chaldean Catholic Church has a series of ecumenical discussions with other Churches of Syriac tradition, initiated by the Pro Oriente Foundation, an organization dependent on the Catholic Diocese of Vienna in Austria. These discussions bring together representatives of churches and separated Catholics, Syriac Tradition (Western Church Syriac Orthodox , Syriac Catholic Church , Malankara Orthodox Church , Syro-Malankara Catholic Church , Maronite Church ) and East Syriac tradition ( Apostolic Assyrian Church of the East , Ancient Church of the East , Chaldean Catholic Church, Catholic Church Syro-Malabar ).
