- The Catholic University of Louvain (1834-1968) (in Latin in Dutch is a university founded in 1834 in Mechelen by the bishops of Belgium, divided since 1968 ( Case of Louvain ) in two institutions separated by the language barrier :
- The Catholic University of Louvain (UCL), a francophone university, whose headquarters are located in Louvain-la-Neuve ( Brabant Wallon ) and Woluwe-Saint-Lambert ( Brussels-Capital Region ) in Belgium ;
- The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL), Dutch university, whose headquarters are in Leuven ( Flemish Brabant ) in Belgium.
