Catholic Committee Against Hunger And For Development
The Catholic Committee against Hunger and for Development (CCFD Earth Solidarity) is a kind 1901 law that mandated the Conference of Bishops of France to mobilize the solidarity of Christians , especially during the period of Lent for the benefit of performing two tasks:
- in France , raising public awareness to the situation of poor countries;
- support projects for human development in developing countries in South and East.

Support for development projects
Breaking with the practice of pure support, the relationship of solidarity implemented by the Solidarity CCFD Earth rests on the notion of partnership. CCFD Earth Solidarity is supporting initiatives Development designed and implemented by the parties themselves, working through partner organizations, and that whatever the origin, culture or religion of the recipients.
Education Development
One of the missions of Solidarity CCFD Earth is to raise public awareness of the problems of developing countries. For example, by campaigning for debt cancellation for poor countries, improvement of official development assistance , subsidized exports of chicken offal in Africa, calls for concrete actions to achieve the Millennium Development , scandal of ill-gotten gains , the campaign against tax havens ... but also by promoting fair trade , for entertainment, especially during Lent.

To promote its work to the public and allow it to use the gift in trust, association adheres to the Charter Committee.
It created a subsidiary in 1983, SIDI, International Solidarity for Development and Investment prolonging the action of the Earth-CCFD Solidarity by providing financial and technical support to local financial structures.
History
Created in 1961 in response to the call of Pope John XXIII for the fight against famine, the movements of the Catholic Church created the RTC (Catholic Committee against Hunger), which will soon become the CCFD, because the idea s imposes faster than the development dimension is essential to properly fight against hunger. In 2010, CCFD became CCFD Earth Solidarity.
