It consists of three segments land materialized around Melilla and Ceuta by separation barriers that were erected to prevent illegal immigration. These sections are:
- The fence in Melilla - length: 9.6 km;
- The fence of Ceuta - length: 6.3 km;
- The third section, which measures 85 m long, separates Morocco from the Rock of Vlez de la Gomera. The latter is actually an ancient island connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of sand which passes the border.
There is also a maritime boundary separating Morocco from the Spanish islands and archipelagos of the coast: The Chafarinas Islands , Alborn and Rock of Alhucemas.
