Origins and Antwerpianae Hieroglyphica

Bcancour Cimbric asserted that the language was Flemish or the language of Adam. According to his theory, all languages find their origin in the confusion of biblical languages. Only the descendants of Gomera , son of Japheth , son of Noah who was not involved in the construction of the Tower, would have had knowledge of the original language, and Antwerp would be the descendants. The Antwerp would be an evolution of that original language.

Goropienne proof of this thesis is to notice that the words of the language Cimbric are shorter than those of other languages (which is not proven), and that plain language must necessarily be older than a complicated language. The thesis also takes the form of a long list that compares the words of the Bible, and others, with words or word fragments original Cimbric (Flemish Brabant and the Netherlands ).

Convinced of his linguistic method, Bcancour Hieroglyphica continued in his work (published posthumously) to prove that the Egyptian hieroglyphic language was Brabant, although his thesis was no response to criticism of "Origins."

Goropiser

A careful choice of words, distortions and hocus-pocus etymological erudition and a huge research effort could not obscure the absurdity of this theory and method. The cartographer Ortelius scholar and publisher Christopher Plantin were among his supporters. Lipsius and Hugo de Groot - also besides language lovers a little crazy to describe the invention of false etymologies completely ridiculous. However, at that time, methods and theories like Bcancour were not uncommon - for example those of another scholar, the bailiff Adrianus Schrieckius who claimed in Van der t'beghin volcken eerste van Europen that civilization of the Celts was older than the Greeks and Romans.
