Bartimaeus
In the Gospels , Bartimaeus (meaning in Aramaic ) is the name of the blind man healed by Jesus at the entrance to Jericho (References: Mt 20.29-34, Mk 10. 46-52, Lk 18.35- 43).
Bartimaeus pleads, "Jesus, son of David , have mercy on me. "
This episode can be read as a parable of the discovery of faith. Thus, initially, Bartimaeus is: blind - seated - at the roadside. In the end, Bartimaeus is "seeing" - following Jesus - on the road.
