Augustin Crampon

Augustin Crampon ( 1 826 - 1,894 ), canon of the cathedral of Amiens , is a translator and commentator of the Catholic Bible which has undertaken the translation directly into French of all the canonical books of witnesses from Hebrew , Aramaic and Greek.

He studied theology and exegesis Bible edited by the Orientalist Arthur Le Hir ( one thousand eight hundred and eleven - in 1868 ) and then excused himself to the teaching seminary of Saint-Riquier. He first devoted himself to translating the Gospels , from the Greek text, and taking into account the individual style of each evangelist, this work was published in 1864.

The abbot retained Crampon transcription of Jehovah Tetragrammaton YHWH , obtained by combining the Hebrew consonants with the vowels of the word Hebrew Wikisource
