The anomaly of Ararat or in English ) is an unidentified object appeared on a few photographs of snow-covered summit of Mount Ararat in Turkey. Some biblical literalists argue it could be the remains of Noah's ark , stranded on this mountain by the Bible.

The anomaly is located at the northwest end of the western plateau of Mount Ararat, at 4,724 meters above sea level and about 2 kilometers from the summit, which culminates at 5137 meters. The object appeared to be located at the edge of what appears to analysts as a very steep downward slope. The defect was spotted for the first time during an aerial reconnaissance mission of the U.S. Air Force in 1949 - Mount Ararat in fact stood on the border between Turkey and the Soviet Union , and had therefore an important strategic interest during the Cold War. The film was classified, although at a level low enough privacy, and other photographs were taken in 1956 , 1973 , 1976 , 1990 and 1992 , by aircraft or satellites. Six photographs from 1949 were declassified in 1995 under the Freedom of Information Act, and forwarded to the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC , an institution specializing in the study of satellite information.

In 2004 , a businessman originally from Honolulu , Daniel McGivern, announced that he would finance a shipment of 900,000 dollars on top of Mount Ararat in July of that year to establish the truth about 'Ararat anomaly. After highly publicized preparations, which inclurent buy commercial satellite imagery, specially composed, Turkish authorities denied him access to the summit, however, on the grounds that it is located in a military zone. The expedition was then accused by the National Geographic Society from being a media stunt skillfully assembled, since its leader, a Turkish professor named Ahmet Ali Arslan, had already been accused of falsifying photographs Arch ago. The CIA , which examined satellite images of McGivern, has also concluded that the anomaly consisted of "linear layers of ice covered by ice and snow accumulated more recently."

On April 26, 2010, a group of Turkish and Chinese explorers evangelicals called Noah's Ark Ministries International announced that they thought they had found Noah's Ark on top of some 4000 meters of Mount Ararat.
