Arab Syrian Lebanese Palestinian
The Syrian-Lebanese-Palestinian conflict is a variety of colloquial Arabic spoken in Syria , in Lebanon , and in some urban areas of Palestine. We can distinguish slight regional variations in this dialect, which does detract from the mutual understanding:
- Lebanese (spoken as far south of Syria)
- North Syrian
- Syrian Central
- Palestinian areas (not to be confused with the other two varieties of Arabic spoken in Palestine - The Palestinian-Jordanian and Palestinian Bedouin - who form separate dialects)
Lebanese Dialect
In Lebanon the letters are hardly emphatic, words are rarely contracted and most importantly, the letter "Qaf" guttural par excellence, does not comment (except sometimes in the Druze mountains). As for the grammar of Lebanon, it is much simpler than literary Arabic. Lebanese, Syrian, Jordanian and Palestinian are very close. The differences in vocabulary and pronunciation between the three dialects are still limited and does not interfere with communication. Despite the large number of borrowings from Turkish and French, the Lebanese still modeled on classical Arabic with which it interacts continuously.
