Antalya is a major tourist city of south of Turkey in the prefecture of the province of the same name. It has an international airport ( IATA : AYT ), the Antalya Airport.
Antalya is the capital's tourist coast Mediterranean Turkish, nicknamed the " Turkish Riviera ". The old city of Antalya, Kaleici, lengthens the side of a cliff below which nestles an ancient port, now modern marina. The population of Antalya amounts to 798 507 inhabitants in 2008.
Since its founding in 150 BC. BC by Attalos II , king of Pergamum , who named Attaleia (: the city has always been inhabited. The Romans , the Byzantines and Seljuks occupied the city before it falls under the law Ottoman. She was then appointed Adalya (or Adalia).
Antalya was known during the Middle Ages in Europe under the name Satalieh (or Satalia).

Climate
Antalya has a Mediterranean climate. Winters are mild and rainy while summers are hot and dry. There are approximately 300 days per year with the sun. The temperature can climb into the day until 40 C in July and August (source?) But it does not usually exceed 30 C. The sea breeze and the wind blowing from the northwest inland make the heat more bearable in the summer. As for the temperature of the sea it ranges between 15 C in winter and 28 C in summer.

With a Mediterranean climate , the city attracts 250,000 visitors, mostly Europeans. Tourism is highly developed.

- Temple of Apollo (the town of Side ) of the Roman period (c. 150 AD. ).
- Gate of Hadrian marble.
- Elegant minaret of the mosque fluted Yivli (1230) which became the symbol of the city.
- The Truncated Minaret (Kesik minare) of the old town alongside the ruins of an ancient church (6 sixth century AD.) Built on the foundations of a temple of the second century AD. AD, then converted into a mosque after the Arab invasions of the seventh century AD. AD

Events
Each year takes place the Antalya Film Festival.
A hijacked plane landing there on 18 August 2007. The aircraft was an aircraft company Atlas Jet flying from Cyprus to Istanbul. Most of the passengers managed to force open the back door of the device and escape.
The city hosted the Fencing World Championships 2009.
