Andronicus Iv Palaeologus
Andronicus IV Palaeologus, born in Constantinople on 11 April 1348 , died on 28 June 1385 , Emperor Byzantine from 1376 to 1379 , is the eldest son of John V Palaeologus , Byzantine emperor, and Helen Cantacuzino.
In 1374 , he was dismissed by his father to the throne. It forms with Savci Bey, son of the Ottoman Turkish Sultan Murad I. a plot to dethrone his father. Both arrested, they are blinded, but in fact Andronicus, who loses one eye, escapes through Genoa and returned to Constantinople in 1376 at the head of an army. He imprisoned his father and had himself crowned emperor.
His reign was disastrous, it restores Gallipoli the Turks, yields Tenedos to the Genoese, can not stop the conquest of the island of Tenedos by the Venetians , which restore John V on his throne in 1379.
He retired in Galata , then pardoned by his father and Selymbria in prerogative.
