Andre Gounelle

Andre Gounelle, French theologian, born in 1933 of a large family Protestant comprising several ministers , spent his childhood and adolescence in Morocco. Philosophical and theological training, he did his national service as a military chaplain in Algeria during the War of Independence. Thereafter, it will be pastor at Dijon and then to Nimes and obtain the chair of systematic theology at the Protestant Institute of Theology - Faculty of Montpellier (1). He remained in that position until his retirement in 1998 , publishing numerous books and articles. The University of Lausanne and University Laval ( Quebec ) will award him a doctorate honoris causa for his work. It was also during twelve years as a member of the National Council of the Reformed Church of France , presided over a time Liberal Association " Gospel and Freedom "and co-directs the French translation of the works of Paul Tillich.
