The removal of the Church is an event in Christian eschatology, in which it is proposed that Christians will be gathered to heaven to meet Christ at his return, seven years before the establishment of his reign.

The biblical passage cited to support this idea is 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, where Paul cites "the word of the Lord" on the return of Jesus to gather his saints:

... And the dead in Christ shall rise first and then we which are alive and remain, we will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

This interpretation is accepted by most Christians and evangelical Protestants. Several theories differ as to details and time of the kidnapping.
