Alfred Le Chatelier

Alfred Le Chatelier, born 1855 , died in Paris on 9 August 1929 , son of Louis Le Chatelier and brother of Henry , was a French first Chairholder of sociography Muslim College de France.

Left Saint-Cyr in 1874 , it performs many missions in Africa (it is participating in the first mission Flatters ). Indigenous affairs officer in Algeria from 1876 to 1886 , he became the first French officer stationed in Ouargla ( 1883 - 1885 ). He leads the Company time studies and explorations of the French Congo , a territory for which it envisages 1893 establishing a communication channel linking the interior and the coast.

Alfred Le Chatelier created in 1902 the chair of sociography Muslim College de France , after his chair occupied by Louis Massignon. It is also the creator of the Mission Scientist Morocco , based in Tangiers in 1904 , and the Journal of the Muslim world in 1906.
