Alexander (Byzantine Emperor)
Alexander ( Modern Greek : (born 23 November 870 , died on June 6 913 ) is the son of Basil I. , and he succeeded his elder brother, Leo VI.
Biography
Alexander is co-emperor Byzantine from 871 to 912 , during the reigns of Basil I and Leo VI, then only one of 11 May 912 to 913.
Cruel and drunkard, he strives to do the opposite of his brother Leo VI, refusing to honor the treaties concluded by the tributes and the latter especially with the Bulgarians.
He reminded the patriarch Nicolas I. , by Leo VI, who strive to serve the Church hierarchy, in order to eliminate the bishops and priests who have sympathies for the Patriarch Ignatius. Most priests, however, refused to resign from their duties, forcing Nicolas to reverse its decision. Alexander died on Sunday, June 6 913.
