Aledo is the seat of Mercer County in the Illinois , the United States of America. It is the hometown of singer country music Suzy Bogguss.
Population
According to Census 2000 the Census Bureau United States of America, there are 3,613 inhabitants in the city, 1 506 households and 1 016 families. Its population density is 622.8 inhabitants per km. 98.34% of the population identified themselves as white, 0.44% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.19% of another ethnic group, 0, 61% of two or more ethnic groups. 0.72% of the population is Hispanic (a concept which does not prejudice any ethnic group).
Among the 1 506 households, 29.5% had one or more children under 18 years, 56% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female head of household with no husband present, and 32.5% were Non-family households. 29.8% of all households were made up of an individual living alone and 17.1% of a single individual of 65 or more. The average number of persons per household was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.87 members.
