Al Muwatta

The Muwatta () is one of the first drafting of Islamic law, compiled and edited by Imam Malik. He is considered the oldest existing source of Hadith , the traditions of Muhammad that form the basis of the jurisprudence of Islam in addition to the Quran Authenticity

Imam Malik composed the Muwatta over forty years to tell the "exemplary path" of the inhabitants of Medina. His name also means that it is a book that is "repeatedly endorsed" - whose content has been unanimously approved by the people of Medina. Its quality is such that all schools of fiqh and all imams hadith scholars agree on its authenticity. The famous Imam Shafi'i said, "It does not exist on the face of the world one book - the Book of God - which is more authentic than the book of Malik. Comments by al-Muwatta

Because of the importance of Al-Muwatta for Muslims , he was often added comments, mostly but not exclusively, written by followers of the school Malikism.

This Sheikh of Egypt wrote a commentary in four volumes in the Al-Muwatta that is extremely popular because of its simplicity. It is considered the foundation of three reviews of the Muwatta, and the Tamhid Istidhkar Yusuf ibn Abd al-Barr and Al-Muntaqa Abu al-Walid al-Baji (another famous scientist malikeiste of Spain ).
A famous hadith scholar and jurist Malikeiste Andalusia. He has written two commentaries on the Muwatta, each collection comprising more than 20 volumes. The first received the name of Al-Tamhid and was organized according to the Narrators who have incorporated the text of Malik, as it contains biographical information on each of the narrators of the chain. The second is titled Istidhkar and it is more a legal exegesis of Hadith in the book a critical study of hadith, as was the case with the previous one. It was said that the Istidhkar was written after Tamhid, Ibn Abd al Barr himself alludes in his introduction. However, a careful review, it appears that the author made revisions on both after their completion due to the existence of cross-references found in both books.

Yusuf ibn Abd al-Barr also wrote a number of other important works such as the Kitab al-Kafi in the field of jurisprudence Malikeiste and the "Jami al-bayan Ilm" on the classification of knowledge.

A famous Sheikh of Egypt that although adept school Shafiste wrote a short commentary on Al-Muwatta.
