Al-Musta li Biography Regent appointed by the Caliph Al-Afdhal Shahanshah ( one thousand and ninety-four - 1,121 ), the death of his father Al-Mustansir Billah. Throughout his reign, he will remain heavily dependent on Al-Afdhal . A quarrel of succession will, however, considered the turning point of his reign. His older brother Nizar is considered by some as the rightful heir. Although the rebellion failed and Nizar supporters that he died in prison, he ensuing weakening of the empire by the emergence of a schism. In Syria and the Persian Empire , the branch Nizari developed. His supporters called Mustaliens. It faces the onslaught of the First Crusade in Palestine. Godfrey of Bouillon took Jerusalem in 1099 , founded the Kingdom of Jerusalem , the Principality of Antioch , the County of Tripoli. He died in 1101 , his son Mansur al-Amir Bi-Ahkamillah succeeded him. References
