Al Hasa
25 25'46 "N 49 37'19" E / 25.42944, 49.62194 The oasis of Al-Hasa (Hasa or or Al-Ahsa, Arabic Al-Ahsa ')) - the largest in the world - is located in the desert province in Saudi Arabia of Ash Shargiyah to 60 km inland. Many wells oil in the country are located in this region. The oasis with a population of 600,000 inhabitants, has one of the strongest community Shiite -majority countries in this Sunni.
Hasa name is also that of the great city of the oasis, also known under the name of Hofuf. One of the great universities of the country, King Faisal University, founded in 1975 , is located in al-Hasa, with faculties of agriculture , medicine, veterinary and animal resources with other schools in Dammam. The campus of Hofuf is one where women can study medicine , the dental and the economy at home. Other population centers are Mobarraz Al, Al-Oyoun, and Al-Omran.
Of freshwater from prehistoric times have encouraged human settlement and agriculture, especially of dates and lemons. In addition, thousands of sheep from goats , of bullocks and camels are the Al-Hasa one of the biggest food producers in the kingdom.
