Al Hakam Ibn Abi Al As
Al-Hakam ibn Abi al-Aas ibn al-Hakam or Umayya bin Wa `he ( Arabic : ). His father was Abu al-`Aas Wa` it from where the two names by which you can find it.
- It was a grand son of the eponym of the Umayyad dynasty.
- He was the father of the fourth Caliph Umayyad Damascus and eighth Caliph Marwan I..
- He was a cousin of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb father of the first Umayyad caliph Mu `awiyah I..
- He was the uncle of one of the third Caliph Uthman.
Al-Hakam is sometimes regarded by Sunnis as one of the companions of Muhammad.
Al-Hakam and his son Marwan went to reside at Ta'if south of Mecca. Muhammad reportedly expelled from Medina (or Mecca?), exiling them to Ta'if.
During his caliphate , `Uthman al-Hakam's cousin asked him to come to Mecca with his son. A dispute between Shiites and Sunnis in this respect is to know:
- whether there has been sentenced to exile
- if that conviction was final or temporary
- if `Uthman transgressed or not the will of the Prophet.
