Agdal Gardens

The Agdal Gardens are the oldest gardens in Marrakech , designed to XII century under the reign of Abd al-Moumen , a sovereign Almohad.
These gardens affect the area south of the palace Dar El Makhzen. The first trees were planted in the twelfth century by the Almohad. The current form of the gardens and the walls date from the nineteenth century. The pomegranate , orange and olive trees are irrigated by several tanks filled with water from the High Atlas. Es Sala at the edge of the largest pools of water is the Dar El Hana, a palace with a panoramic terrace where you can admire the High Atlas chain beyond the gardens.
Today, the gardens of Agdal extend several kilometers south of the Palais Royal, this garden vegetation more varied than those of the Menara , has several pavilions.
