Abu Dawud
Abu Dawud Sulayman ibn al-Bashir al-Ash'ath ibn al-Azad Sijistn Biography He was born in Sijistn (or Sagestan Sistan, southeast of Iran ) in 817. Looking for Science, he traveled to Iraq in Egypt , in Syria , in Saudi , in Khorasan , in Nishapur , and Merv , collected many hadiths from the greatest scholars, and attracted a reputation for knowledge and piety. He was mainly interested in the law and, consequently, his collection focuses largely on the hadith legal. From about 50,000, has selected 4800 hadiths , incorporated in his book Sunan Abi Dawud , based on a higher degree of authenticity. He wrote about 21 books in total. Part of his collection of hadith is not authentic ( Sahih ), but he said that all hadith listed were genuine unless specifically indicated otherwise, this assertion has been disputed by some followers of the Imam, for eg Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani ) who thinks that some hadiths in the collection are low by the standards of Sunnis. In another work, Al-Kitab al-Marasil, it lists 600 sayings Mursal, that is, hadith which lack a complete chain of narrators ( isnad ), he demonstrates, however, be genuine, after a search substantive scope.
