Early in his reign, the Empire Almohad is reduced to Morocco. The Hafsids of Tunis extended their kingdom westward by annexing the Algeria to Tlemcen. The south Merinids manage to climb to Meknes. As-Sa `id, however, managed to force Merinids to provide a contingent to repel Hafsids. Ambushed, he was killed. Mrinides troops regrouped and took Fez. The Almohad kingdom was reduced to the region of Marrakech.
