Abu ad-Darda'a al-Ansari ( Arabic : ) was a companion of the Prophet of Islam Mohammed. His real name is Uwaymar ibn Malik al-Khazraji Biography Abu ad-Darda'a was a merchant of Medina and a friend of Abdullah ibn Rawaha. The latter, while returning from the battle of Badr went home and broke the idol he adored. The wife of Abu Ad-Darda'a reported the act to her husband, who initially wanted revenge but then retracted to go looking for his friend to lead him along with Muhammad , and converted to of Islam when he heard his teachings. During the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab , shortly after the death of Mohammed , he took the office of judge in Syria. awiyah Mu `ibn Abi Sufyan sent men to seek the hand of his daughter, Ad-Darda ' has for his son Yazid ibn Mua `Wiya but he refused, preferring to give to another Sahabi fear that in becoming his wife, the wealth that surrounded him do lose their religion. He died in 652, 32 AH, during the caliphate of Uthman. Abu Darda was known by his zuhd and indulgence. It recommended tafakkur (mediation) putting the fear of God above the mere observance of ritual obligations and said: "This clearly shows the vanity of the world is that we get anything from God without giving up the world. . Sa `d ibn Mu` adh said about him: "Take science among four people: Abu Ad-Darda, Ibn Mas'ud , Salman and `Abdullah ibn Salam. " Education
