Abdelaziz bin Saud Al Faisal bin Abderrahman ( 24 November 1880 Origins

Often known as Ibn Saud Ibn Saud, or in the historiography West, its full name "Abdul Aziz bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abderrahman bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud , it is the great-great-great-grand-son Mohammed bin Saud which, together with Mohammed bin Abdelwahhab , founder of Wahhabism , created the first Saudi state in 1744.

On the death of Faisal bin Turki Al Saud December 11, 1865 , the power of the House of Saud on the second Saudi state power flickers and fell to the rival family of Al Rashid , a native of the city of Hail and supported by the Ottomans , who is in Riyadh in 1884.

Abderrahman , youngest son of Faisal, has become head of the family of Saud and attack Riyadh before he resumed and successfully defeated narrowly escape into the desert with his family in 1891 . Abderrahman found refuge first with the tribe of Al Murrah confines of the dreaded desert Rub al-Khali , where his young son, Abdelaziz, experiences the harsh Bedouin life and virtues of hospitality. He then left the Al Murrah to Bahrain with Sheikh Isa ( Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa ) becomes friends with Abdelaziz , then to Qatar and Kuwait when Sheikh Mubarak gives them hospitality with the downstream Ottomans and where the family eventually settled in 1892.

Reconquest of power

Enjoying a trip to Baghdad Abdelaziz Al Rashid ibn Rashid said, with the approval of his father Abderrahman but only with a sixty faithful companions, Abdulaziz began to reclaim Riyadh. The night of January 15, 1902, six of them scaled the walls of the city and get information from a former servant of Abderrahman , the time when the Al Saud in Riyadh still reigned. They enter through the terraces at the residence of the Emir of Riyadh, Ajlan, and killed on his return from the mosque, causing the surrender of the garrison.

Soon after, Abdelaziz brought his family and settled permanently in Riyadh. His father abdicated in his favor as head of the House of Saud, retaining only his title of Imam.

He reconquered the region of Qasim in 1904, Hasa in 1913. In May 1914 he was appointed wali of Nejd by the Ottomans. The First World War started, in 1915 he signed a cooperation treaty with Great Britain, however, relies more on the Sharif Hussein of Mecca , King of the Hashemite of Hejaz and initiator of the Arab Revolt. In November 1921, he seized Hail , ending the domination of the Al Rashid , and proclaimed himself sultan of Nejd.

Abdelaziz then tackles the Sheriff Hussein that hunting Mecca in October 1924. However, not being a descendant of Muhammad , he can claim the title of Sheriff of Mecca : it is dressed in simple pilgrim to Mecca that between October 13, 1924. He proclaimed himself Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King and the Hejaz (August 29, 1926) after resuming Jeddah December 5, 1925 the son of Hussein, Sharif Ali, and finally King of Nejd (May 1927).

King of Saudi Arabia

September 23, 1932 , he met his conquests in a single state, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which the Treaty of Taif in 1934 the three provinces Yemeni Deputy of Asir , Najran and Jizan. The wars have led to the accession to power of Ibn Saud were 500 000 deaths between 1901 and 1932 .

From 1938 , the kingdom's prosperity is tied to the oil and makes this state one of the most powerful in the Middle East. In 1945 , King Abd al-Aziz concluded with President Franklin D.
