The formula: "We have a high priest" (VIII, 1) together pretty well the teaching of the Epistle of Christ. In the tradition of Aaron and Melchizedek, the sacrifice of Christ is like the ancient sacrifices, but differs: Christ, indeed, offers himself and "once and for all" (IX, 12, 26 ) and is thus the true sanctuary (IX, 24). Its superiority is obvious: it ensures eternal redemption (IX, 12) and purification of men (IX, 13-14), all of which are works of God (II, 10).
