666 is a double album of the Greek group Aphrodite's Child released in 1971. The music is composed by Vangelis and lyrics by Costas Ferris. In fact, this album is the musical adaptation of the Apocalypse of St. John, hence the title.
The music on this work vary greatly from one another, both in duration than their style. Some parts border on the psychedelic sound, while others rock hard.
The album was censored for its release in some countries because of its biblical influences. Inside the cover it says: "This work WAS Recorded Under The Influence of" Sahlep "(This album was recorded under the influence of" Sahlep ") sentence, it also sowed controversy.
Friction between the members of the group, already present before the creation of the album, worsened gradually as the recording progressed. The group broke up shortly after the release of 666 in 1972.
