Fire of Rome.
- The Kushan sacked the city of Taxila ( Pakistan today).
- July 19 - July 24 : Rome was devastated by a huge fire. A rumor that the emperor Nero is the instigator. To avert suspicion, the latter accusing and persecuting Christians (this version, as well as Nero's guilt in the fire, peddled by the media and echoed by Senate Tacitus , is now controversial).
- Of the fourteen districts of Rome, three are completely reduced to ashes, four are saved and seven are affected by the fire.
- Nero builds a fire in Rome to propose a new urbanism based on the alignment of buildings adorned with porticos on the front, on expanding the use of streets and open spaces. It will not be applied to his death.
- Lyon sent a large sum of money for the rebuilding of Rome. During the winter of 64-65, Lyon is in turn destroyed by a fire. Nero returns the involvement of Lyonnais.
- The Phoenicia was incorporated into Syria.
- The procurator of Judea, Albinus , recalled to Rome, empty the jails before leaving. Under his successor Gessius Florus , the situation worsens in Judea with the proliferation of looting (64 - 66 ).
