Events
- Beginning of the period of the Thirty Tyrants in the Roman Empire (late in 270 ). They are for the most general of the armies of the border proclaimed emperor by their troops to fight against the invader. The year was marked by two deaths and the theft of two pretenders to the empire:
- April - May : Taking advantage of its success in a campaign against the Goths , Aemilianus , governor of Moesia proclaimed himself emperor.
- Valerian , in charge of suppressing the theft Emilien is proclaimed emperor in his turn.
- August : During an attack against Aemilianus , his successor as governor of Moesia, the emperor Gallus was killed by his own troops.

- Despite a treaty with Rome , the Goths invaded the Asia Minor. They plunder Ephesus and Pessinus.
- Destruction of the Stoa of Eumenes , to Athens , to build the new city wall (253 - 260 ).
- The Franks and Alemanni invade Gaul. Lutece is burned. The Franks reach the Pyrenees ( 256 ) and Alemanni advance in Italy to Milan ( 261 ).
- Campaign Sassanian in Mesopotamia. Chahpuhr I. crush the Roman army Barbalissos. It temporarily holds a portion of Syria , of Cilicia and Cappadocia. In Armenia, it replaces Tiridates II by a vassal prince of Persia.
- The doctor Chinese Hua-To operate the skull.
- The prophet Mani , the founder of Manichaeism , demanded complete equality between men.
- Faraxen king Berber revolt against Roman rule. There will be captured in 260.
