- March 14 : Everton (14 wins, 1 draw and 7 losses) is crowned Premiership football.

- May 7 : At Sunderland, England beat Wales 4-1.
- May 21 : Dumbarton and Rangers FC share first championship in Scotland. To tie at the end of the season, both teams did manage to tie during a replay, 2-2.
- KB won the championship in Copenhagen.
- The London football club 'Royal Arsenal' became the Woolwich Arsenal and turned professional. This is the first club in southern Afghanistan to cross the Rubicon.

- September : The trio arbitral made its debut on English football. Until then, the arbitration was awarded to two field umpires and a referee in the stands. The umpires who were nominated by the captains of each team did not whistle the faults, and merely to impose arbitration at the request of the captains. The referee in the stands was responsible for deciding, on appeal, the two umpires. This system has shown its limits, the referee becomes the sole arbiter of field, while the two umpires are pushed along the sidelines. The center referee is now in sole command of a match and he is now reported faults by a whistle and determines the sentence. It may include use of a new penalty: the penalty spot.
- September 13 : Play-off between Old Caledonians and St. Andrew's, perfect equality (6 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss) at the end of the first edition of the Argentina football championship. St. Andrews required 3-1, but the Federation means both teams champions ...
- Sept. 14 : John Heath of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC scored the first goal on a penalty kick in football history.
