- John Hunyadi abandon the title of governor of Hungary and was appointed captain-general and captain Nndorfehrvr , then Count of Temes . A few months later, the king entrusted the responsibility of the affairs of Hungary Hunyadi, those of Austria Ulrich Cillei and those of Bohemia to George of Podiebrady.
- April 2 : Mehmet II appeared before Constantinople with a powerful army . He faces stiff resistance but the use of modern guns and boats came to the end of the city's defenses.

Venice plans to annex the Morea after the fall of Constantinople, then waived for fear of complications with the Turks. Genoa lost its counter Pera , opposite Constantinople.
- After the fall of Constantinople, the Armenians of the Turkish side were reorganized under the domination of the Armenian bishop of Bursa , Joachim (Hovakim), who assumes the title of patriarch . They get a great religious autonomy, culture and politics.

- September 30 : Pope Nicolas V preached a crusade against the Turks .
- October 9 : Capitulation of Bordeaux . Charles VII of France lifts restrictions opposed the lowering of the High Country wines at Bordeaux. Before the collapse of the Bordeaux trade, the restriction is brought into force on 11 April 1454 .
- October 19 : The French enter Bordeaux , ending three centuries of British presence in the city. The English did not retain more than Calais in France .
- October 28 : Ladislas V the Posthumous was crowned king of Bohemia in Prague .
- Busca the city seized power in Barcelona and began to implement its reform program. Two opposing factions: the Busca ("straw"), which includes corporations of merchants and craftsmen calling for protectionist measures and the devaluation to reduce debt and boost business. The Biga, "the beam, representing the great merchants who want the stability to guarantee their investments. La Busca, victorious, appeals to the king, and the Catalan peasants, struggling with their lords. The conflict leads to civil war (1462-1472) .
